From hunger relief to mental health treatment, nonprofits play a vital role to aid those who are struggling.
But what about the employees at these same nonprofits? Many receive a smaller paycheck and work with fewer resources than their corporate counterparts.
At the 211 Helpline Palm Beach/Treasure Coast (www.211palmbeach.org), a 24/7 confidential community helpline and crisis hotline, trained specialists answer calls ranging from a family facing eviction to someone contemplating suicide.
While hotline specialists handle stressful calls with a calm and compassionate demeanor, these calls can take a toll on 211’s team. That’s why GL Homes hosted an employee health and wellness appreciation lunch during National Suicide Prevention Month in September for 211.
GL Homes provided a luncheon feast complete with homemade potato chips, sandwiches, mouthwatering chicken salad, fruit and the best-tasting chocolate chip cookies.
The 211 staff didn’t go home empty-handed either. GL Homes gave each of the 67 employees a $100.00 Amazon gift card.
