Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County Summer Food Drive is underway! Donations of perishable and nonperishable food will be distributed to the families of the children who attend the Chuck Hill Unit in Port St. Lucie. From June 24 to July 26, the donated food will help to stock The CHU (pronounced chew) food pantry at the Chuck Hill Unit, which serves 120 children this summer. In total, 500 people, which includes the family members of club kids, will receive these much-needed staples.
For many school-age children, they receive breakfast and lunch five days per week from the schools. During summer vacation, many families are struggling to feed their children these crucial meals and that’s where the Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County Summer Food Drive steps in.
Our Riverland team in Port St. Lucie is pitching in to help restock The CHU food pantry this summer. During the summer months, donations to nonprofit organizations tend to be lower when many residents go on vacation.
GL Homes donated $20,000 for groceries to be used throughout the year at The CHU. Due to overwhelming need, Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County is seeking additional donations including the purchase of cleaning supplies and laundry detergent.
Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County enables all young people to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
