Jacky Mengue lived at Youth Haven for more than a year after finding herself homeless in Naples. Through its Good Night’s Sleep initiative, GL Homes partnered with Youth Haven and St. Matthew’s House to provide Jacky with furniture for her first apartment. GL Homes Vice President/Project Manager Dianna Betancourt shopped with the 21-one-year-old at St. Matthew’s House thrift store in Naples to find all the creature comforts she needed to make her house a home. In addition to the $3,000 GL Homes gave Jacky to purchase furniture at St. Matthew’s House thrift store, GL Homes provided Youth Haven with an additional $1,500 so Jacky could purchase many new items such as linens, towels and a TV at a local store.
Jacky earned her GED and she is now a certified nursing assistant with plans to become a nurse.
Good Night’s Sleep is a GL Homes initiative. There are many keys to success; the most important is a good night’s sleep. Our Good Night’s Sleep initiative provides all the furnishings to make a house a home. It’s essential for people transitioning from homelessness to a home of their own to have all the essentials from a mattress to linens, towels, a kitchen table and chairs.
