GL Homes donated $5,000 to create a new food pantry for Lake Village of the Glades Shelter in Pahokee. Gulfstream Goodwill Industries operates Lake Village where residents have their own apartments with kitchens. The residents, who are experiencing homelessness, receive nutritious food such as lean meat, fresh produce and healthy, nonperishable food. GL Homes also purchased silverware, plates and pots and pans so Lake Village residents can prepare meals for their own families.
In addition to the WPTV broadcast, the opening was picked up by Yahoo News and MSN.
